How PaPD Works

Participating institutions’ responsibilities include:

  • Establishing a collection manager, who also serves as the primary contact
  • Digitizing, adding, and maintaining high-quality materials
  • Assigning metadata to materials based on best practices established by PaPD

POWER Library provides:

  • Secured server facility for data storage (PaPD is not intended as a preservation solution; we recommend that contributors retain copies of metadata and files submitted to PaPD)
  • 24/7 availability of data via any web browser
  • A homepage for each collection
  • Keyword searching of one or more collections
  • Discovery of collections across the USA and beyond in the Digital Public Library of America
