Training Overview

Your POWER Library support team offers a variety of ways for library staff to receive training on all of the services offered through POWER Library.  Interested in in-person training events?  Check out the annual fall training offerings scheduled throughout the state.  Need to earn some continuing education or Act 48 credits but cannot leave the library?  We have you covered there with online tutorials available through POWER Academy.  Do you prefer a custom training event for your library/school team?  Simply complete a training request form and let us know your POWER Library interests.

Continuing Education and Act 48 Guidelines

Act 48

Act 48 of 1999 requires all Pennsylvania educators holding Pennsylvania public school certification including Instructional I and II, Educational Specialist I and II, Administrative, Supervisory, Letters of Eligibility, and all vocational certificates to participate in ongoing professional education.

Continuing Education (CE)

The Public Library Code requires libraries that receive state aid to provide staff with continuing education (CE) that is approved by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
